Son Parc is a small resort on the north coast of Menorca approximately 20kms west of Mahon and 7kms east of Fornells. The journey from the airport takes about 20 minutes.
Son Parc has two main attractions – one is the golf course (the only one on Menorca). The greens are well set out and there is a driving range as well, so everyone can have a go. A development of apartments are currently being built to the south of the course and it would seem by the plans that the estate will grow quite quickly and be the main feature of the area.
Son Parc's other attraction is the beach which is perfect for families and sun seekers alike. There are three access points, one by road (turn left at the roundabout just after the golf course) the car park is large enough even when the beach is busy. There is a central path from behind the Sol Parc Hotel and although its quite a walk, this path is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. The third path leads down from the road adjacent to the Beach Club Apartments, this path is quite steep and the last step is a drop of about 3 feet.
The beach is patrolled by lifeguards, has sun beds and parasols, pedalos and canoes for hire. At the western end there is a beach side cafe, at this end of the beach the sand drops away quite quickly. However, the eastern part (nearest the resort) the sand shelves very gently and it is possible to walk out for a few hundred yard before it gets deep.
The resort centre of Son Parc is very small, having only one main street known as ‘the strip’. This is where most of the bars and restaurants are situated. Needless to say, there is not a huge choice, but (in my opinion), there are a few which are quite good –
Mama Mia’s, Los Porches and the Pinomar. Rex’s Pub, which isn’t actually a pub serves delicious breakfasts and Jokers serves English beers. There are also two car hire offices based here.
Whilst there are a few apartment complexes which are privately owned there are three apart hotels. The Playa Park (German,) the Sol Parc and the Beach Club. The latter two are owned by Confortel.
Son Parc is an ideal resort for families especially those with young children, teenagers however could get bored quickly as there are very few shops and no amusement arcades.
